Zaheer Sharaf

A Civil Engineer by professional training, worked in very key and critical projects in the oil and gas sector in Pakistan. He has also been involved and spear headed other construction projects in Pakistan. Mr. Sharaf, along with his family immigrated to the United States in 1989. He has since initiated successful business ventures in the retail and oil and gas sector. He is currently also a licensed Real Estate adviser in the State of Connecticut, one of the fastest growing and real estate markets in the United States. Zaheer remains active with many other organizations at local, regional and national level. He is of a very strong view of seeing the Pakistani American community as the part of main stream. Zaheer is married to Tazeen and father of daughters Sania and Abeera and son Rafae.

Dr. Saqib Naseer
Vice-President

Saqib Naseer MD, FACC, FASNC

He was born in Lahore, Pakistan. He received MBBS degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College. In USA did three years of residency in Internal Medicine, in affiliation with University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He served as Chief Medical Resident during the final year. He went on to do three years of Fellowship in Cardiology in affiliation with Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York where he served as instructor in clinical medicine at Columbia University and was involved in teaching and many research projects in clinical medicine.

He is board certified by American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Cardiovascular diseases, Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. Is Fellow of American College of Cardiology, Fellow of American Society of Nuclear Cardiology. Is member of many organizations including American College of Physicians, American Medical Association. He currently has a private practice in Manchester, Connecticut and associated with Manchester Memorial Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital, Hartford. He has served as Chief of Cardiology Manchester Memorial Hospital, Rockville General Hospital and Eastern Connecticut Health Network and is a corporator.

He is one of the founding members of Pakistani American Association of Connecticut and has served as general secretary and is currently serving as Vice President. He is lifetime member of Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America and Allama Iqbal Medical Colloege alumni. He is actively involved in supporting many health and educational programs in Pakistan, especially supporting primary education. He is married and is blessed with three children.

He strongly believes that the issues faced by people of this era can be resolved peacefully. It is extremely important for the Muslims of America and the whole world to obtain higher education, excel in their fields with hardwork, honesty, sincerity and determination. We have to become active in local communities and become integral part of the mainstream. We should also make certain that we are not misrepresented by anyone. We must speak up against the handful of extreme elements. What is going on in the world it is obvious that more difficult times are on the horizon. Our future will depend on what we accomplish today.

Khalid Mahmood

Khalid Mahmood

Born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. Completed Engnieering from University of Manchester, Manchester United Kingdom. Later moved to Canada to join his family in 1980 and received his professional membership with “Order of Engineers of Quebec”, Canada. Also hold Associate membership of the Univrsity of Manchester, Institute of Science & Technology, UK since 1979. He got married and settled down in Montreal where they had three beautiful daughters. He has the passion for aerospace since young age and luckily started his career with GE and later moved to Pratt & Whitney in 1983. Since than he have been enjoying his career with this company and held various responsible positions. In 1999 he was offered to move to Pratt & Whitney headquarters in East Hartford, CT. This was a big move for all of them specially leaving all their lifetime friends and family. At his present position, this offers him lot of interaction with senior executives at the airline and travel to many interesting places as he has the responsibility of all the airlines for the Middle East, Commonwealth of Independent States, North Africa and Pakistan. He has been part of PAACT since this was formed in 2000. For almost eight years he held very responsible position of treasurer of PAACT and at present the position of secretary. He truly believes in making a positive difference and believes in healthy life style. Big fan of sports in particular he enjoys playing tennis and watching US open.

Anjum Rasheed

He is involved in the community work for the last 10 years. Always volunteered in PAACT events . He is a South Windsor resident and married to Sara with three children.

Syed Raza
Past President

Syed Raza

Syed Raza moved to the United States after high school education in Pakistan. He pursued further education in Finance. He started his work career with the Bank of New England. His area of experience and work has been in the finance and securities industry. Realizing his qualities and work, CIGNA Insurance Company asked him to join them in 1991. Since that time Mr. Raza has pursued expertise and further skills in the securities industry and the derivatives market. He has served in many projects for CIGNA as project director for the above areas. Raza is a founding member of the Pakistani American Association of Connecticut. He remains active on the board of a national American Muslim organization and has been instrumental in organizing annual convention for the organizations which are attended by over five thousand attendees. Mr. Raza is married to Najah, and father of a son Ali, and daughter Alleena.
